Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: SE/SSE Wind Stength: 15-20+ knts Surf / Sea State: flat Air Temperature: 7-9C Sea Temperature: 8 Weather: light rain / overcast Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Without a decent session since February thought I'd chane the SE forecast.
With 25 mph forecast thought some of it might make it through to the
estuary.
Got the time of high tide wrong and arrived a bit early. The session turned
out quite good in the end. Rained quite a bit whilst waiting to go out but
eased off later and was dry by the end of the session.
Rigged up the 6.4m and Mistral board with a 32cm fin. Had some decent runs
up and down the channel whilst waitng for the tide to come in. A few gybe
attempts and getting set up right. My hands froze after a while and I
couldn't catch the boom when flipping the rig so went in to defrost!
Al decided to give it a go on the Sputnik and after warming my hands a
little we went out. I was all over the place for a while but noticed my
boom had slipped down so stopped to raise it and put my mast base back a
bit then every thing sorted out nicely.
The wind direction changed to SSE and we found that the runs in the cahnnel
were very short so ventured over to the Dovey side to the main channel.
There we had some nice long runs but I fell off the plane quite a few times
in the lulls. More gybe / tack practice, gybing wasn't great today in the
gusty conditions but generally got back into it. Good fun even if a bit
cold.
